ABAC Air Receivers

ABAC air receivers (also called air vessels or storage tanks) sit between the compressor and the air network. They store compressed air, buffer short demand peaks, steady system pressure and allow condensate to drop out before it reaches pipework, valves and tools.

A correctly sized receiver reduces compressor start/stop cycling, cuts wear and helps keep downstream air more stable. ABAC vessels are typically vertical, CE / PED compliant, and available painted (standard indoor use, RAL 5015 blue), galvanised (zinc-coated for damp or outdoor sites) or Vitroflex glass-lined (higher corrosion protection, including more demanding or food-related air duty).

Typical range
Vertical receivers from about 100 L to 5000 L. Common workshop sizes are 200 L, 270 L, 500 L, 720 L, 900 L and 1000 L at around 11 bar. Larger 1500–5000 L vessels and 16 bar options are available for industrial plant. Port sizes step up with capacity (often ¾" to 3" BSP). Fitting kits (safety valve, drain and gauge) are usually included on vessels up to 3000 L; 4000 L and 5000 L kits are ordered separately.

Sizing guide
As a starting point, receiver volume in litres ≈ compressor motor power in hp × 30. Example: a 10 hp machine wants around 300 L of storage. High peak demand, long pipe runs or frequent load changes may need a larger tank. For continuous high-flow plant, size from free air delivery as well as motor power.
